Chapter 1
“To burn with desire and keep quiet about it is the greatest punishment we can bring on ourselves.” ― Federico GarcĂa Lorca, Blood Wedding and Yerma
He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath the lemon wax used to polish the dance floor fills his lungs. Every time he plucks a string on his guitar the music flows through him and guides her. For an hour every Wednesday they share a heartbeat.
He opens his eyes and watches her refined movements in the mirrored walls her body moving in time to the beat he sets for her. The amp is turned up so high that it drowns out everything, including all of her doubts. She leaps through the air effortlessly.
She pauses to gather up her auburn hair and redo her ponytail letting it swing down to her back. Their eyes met and he asks himself the same question he’s often asked over the years; does she know how much he loves her?
He can’t help being in love with her he’s tried to stop many times. If she did know he’d be okay with her turning him down, now that he has someone else that he loves. In fact in two days he’ll be celebrating his two year anniversary with that special someone.
Every day that he spends with his girlfriend his love grows stronger. Their love hasn’t helped him stop being in with Lana Cooper. His love for her is different he’s loved her longer.
