The Waiting Game

About a week ago I finished another revision of my ms The Demon Chronicles: Prophecy. By the time I was finished, I couldn't even look at it without going cross eyed. Although I love all of my characters and the plot dearly, I needed a break. I had done all I could do with it. That only meant one thing. Time to send my baby off to my awesome CP's and betas!

Now I'm playing the waiting game. The first time I let it go, I was a nervous-wreck! I didn't know what to do until I got it back with notes on what needed fixing and what worked. This time as I play the waiting game, I'm writing. I decided that instead of taking a break like last time, that I would actually do a really rough draft on something that might turn into my next ms. Then again, I'm going to be doing NaNo this year (for the first time! Yay!!) and that ms might turn into my next big project. Stay tuned for that one!

Anyway, as I sit here playing the waiting game, I am putting my time to good use. I'm writing, reading, spending time with my hubby, and also critiquing other's ms's. It feels good. Plus, I trust everyone who has my baby right now. I know it's in good hands. I knew it last time, but it was the first time I'd let anyone outside of my hubby read my work. Therefore...nerve-wracking! LOL!

Once I get everything back I'll be hard at work again. Then...dun! dun! dun! Query time! *bites nails* I'm actually super excited about that part. And as always, I will keep you all up to date on what's going on. Now happy writing my wonderful followers!

P.S. Be sure to stop by on Oct. 1st for an interview with Jessie from Remarkable Reads!

The We're All Made Awesome Blog Award

Okay, I made this award for my adopted twitter sister Brielle B. She has been a great cheerleader during my time of writing/rewriting/revising my ms. She not only has read the "original" version, but is now reading the newest one. For that alone I felt like I should give her an award. So I made the We're All Made Awesome Blog Award in honor of my awesome bookworm Brielle!

Now, we all know after making this award that I couldn't just give it to one person. I have too many awesome people out there that deserve it too. Two, Like Bri, have read the "original" version and now have the newest one. The rest have been kind to help in other ways & I truly love them for all that they have done. So here are my Mad Bloggers that I have chosen to receive this award. Also, they are NOT in any particular order.

Okay. Okay. You caught me. All of my award winners are my girls. My favorite bloggers. But to be honest, they really do fit the award. We're all a little mad (in the writing sense) and awesome. So congrats everybody! I love you all!

Now happy writing every one!!

Can You Hook A Teen? Blogfest Entry First 250 Words

Title: The Demon Chronicles: Prophecy
Genre: YA Paranormal Romance

Here's my first 254 words. I hope you enjoy!

Crimson splattered across everything. A stream of it trickled through the room, filling it with its metallic bitterness. Walking slowly toward where it was coming from, she gasped. A hand lay lifeless in the deadly river. Her eyes refused to look at his face, but she knew he was dead. A single tear fell down her cheek as she heard the demonic laughter behind her. At that moment she knew she was the one who ended his life.

A scream ripped from her throat as she jolted awake. It was just another dream. Taisie Monahan thought to herself breathlessly as she lay back down and tried to push the nightmare from her mind. Since her mother's death, they had been coming more frequently than normal. She never saw who was dead or the one who made her kill him, and she prayed she never did. They were bad enough already. She didn't think she could take anything more.

The big red numbers on the digital clock flashed 1:00 A.M. Her eyes adjusted to its light after a minute making her let out a loud sigh. “Ugh. Really?” She pulled the comforter over her head and listened to the rain dancing on the roof, hoping she would drift into a dreamless sleep this time. In six short hours she had to face her real worst nightmare. First day of school.

A sea of Forever 21 and American Eagle flowed Taisie's direction as she fought her way up the sidewalk of Saint Isabel High.

Lies Of The Sun

I'll shine on you and help the seeds grow. I'm here for you, for I am the sun. I love you. I'll always be there for you. That's what you always said. Just more lies that fell from your lips. You know what you have done. You watched the flower grow then blossom before you took away your warm glow. Hiding behind a cloud acting like it's the flower's and the garden's fault you fled. They know the truth. They see right through you. Is that why you refuse to shine? Did the rose reveal her thorns and refuse to die? Or are you ashamed of what you have become? Just a dead star when you were once a bright sun. The garden has moved on and found a new ray of light. The flower has been plucked and bathed in a heavenly heart. So hide away cause they have become too strong to fall for your false rays of your deceiving light.

Tiny Dancer

Gliding through the air, you twist and you turn. Everyone stops and stares while you keep going on. One leap and you've stolen their hearts and minds. Do you even know? Do you even realize? He sees you dancing and waits for his turn. Silence surrounds him while he takes in who you are. One silent night, he comes and takes your hand. No time to think as he covers your opened mouth, and takes you from your land. Now in a darkened room you dance as you rise anew. Silently he sits, only watching you. Leap with all your might and break free from his chains. Now you see the light as he tries to claim you again. Arms held wide, you take to flight. He'll cry for you, but do not listen. Live for only. Dance to be free.
