Charcoal and Hot Chocolate by Irene Rose: A Review

I picked up Charcoal and Hot Chocolate hoping for a good read, but got an amazing one instead. How Irene wrote Ellie and River's story is spot on and felt more like I was reading a real love story instead of a fictional one. 

Ellie's a shy art student with strict parents that she chooses to get away from by going to school far away from them. She's content with her life and art, but then here comes River who I love so freakin much! His awkwardness mixed with her shyness sucked me in. I like characters who aren't just beautiful people with no issues to dirty their perfectness. Maybe it's because of this trait Irene gave him that made River so understanding as Ellie blossomed into the girl she is in the end of the book. Honestly, I think I love this book so much more because of River than Ellie and I really do like her a ton. She's a wonderful MC and one that I generally identify with.

And that's why I really held on for the ride. Ellie. How Irene wrote her in a way that made me feel like we could be friends. She felt real and I like that. It's that realness that made her journey with River one that I was willing to invest in. 

All-in-all, Charcoal and Hot Chocolate is a NA book that I highly recommend. It's a read you won't regret and I promise that! I'm giving it a solid A+!

So as you can see from the title, I'm proudly part of the Jordyn blog tour. What is Jordyn? Well, it's a wonderful book written by author, Tiffany King!

Jordyn is a sequel to Tiffany's first series called The Saving Angels series. I have reviewed those books here before and if you've read those reviews you can see how much I'm in love with Krista and Mark, not to mention Tiffany's writing. So you can imagine how excited and over the freakin moon I was when I heard about Jordyn! I was so excited to read this book that I put another book down just to pick this one up and I wasn't disappointed either!

I'll admit that my expectations were high for this book and Jordyn met them and went beyond what I was hoping for. She's a badassed girl with a sarcastic attitude that I was just drawn to. I found myself laughing at times and feeling everything she was, and that I love in a story! It shows how well the writer crafted the characters and their world and Tiffany did a fantastic job at it all! And Emrys, whoo! Yeah, you'll love Emrys cause I know I did.

Not only did Tiffany bring back Krista and Mark, but she put them in a more grownup role as Jordyn's aunt and uncle as well as her guardians. I actually loved this and was so happy to see them back along with the rest of my favorite characters. (Yeah, that means Haniel!)

I'm giving Jordyn a solid A+ because it was more than I was expecting and I'm really wanting to read it again. I highly suggest you buy Jordyn and the Saving Angels series if you don't already have them ASAP! I promise you that you won't regret it.

Ranch Hand by Alla Kar: A Review

I had planned on reviewing Ranch Hand at the end of November or the beginning of December, but had to put it off until now due to the holidays and family things that kept me away from the blogging and internet world. That being said, I am very happy to be able to share my review now and I hope you all enjoy!

Ranch Hand is about Bridget Wilkes who returns to Texas to visit her sick grandfather and runs head on to, (HOT COWBOY ALERT!) smoken hot cowboy and old flame Levi James. While Bridget's life is safe and predictable back in New York, (job as an editor at Harper Teen and a fiancé she's in love with and ready to marry,) old feelings come back with a bang! When her fiancé comes to town, Bridget finds herself torn between the future she had planned and her feelings for Levi. 

Wanna know who she picks? Well, go buy Ranch Hand and find out cause I can promise you that you won't regret it. It truly is a great read coming in at around 100 pages. I finished it during NaNoWriMo within three days, but that's because I was writing at the same time. Ms. Kar has a way of making you feel like you're in Bridget's world. Normally I'm a YA reader, but I'm glad I got the chance to read this book. It really is a good romance read with touches of erotica laced through it.

All-in-all I'm giving Ranch Hand a solid A and highly recommend you pick up a copy for yourself ASAP!

The Ascended by Tiffany King: A Review

I was one of the lucky few to get to read an ARC of one of my favorite authors Tiffany King's latest books, The Ascended (The Saving Angels Series book #3) (If you'd like to read my review of Meant To Be or Forgotten Souls, click the links and also check out Amazon for both amazing books!!)

The Ascended is the third and last book in the Saving Angels Series and picks up two months after the end of Forgotten Souls. We are left still with Krista's heartbreak over Mark's betrayal and her determination to find her lost link and save him from what he feared most.

Sam, Shawn, Lynn, and Robert along with Haniel and the other bands come together to aid Krista on her mission. Along the way, you learn of the changes Krista's abilities have taken since she and Mark were parted while seeing a new side to the handsomely stoic archangel, Haniel.

The Ascended took me everywhere that a fantasy adventure is supposed to. I felt Krista's sorrow along with her strength. I found myself dying to know what would happen next. So much so that I finished the entire book the same day I received it in less than five hours!

By the end of The Ascended, I was a ball of tears. Happy and sad all at once. Krista and Mark's ending along with Haniel's and the missing Links got to my heart and I had to re-read the entire book all over again just to get another cry!

I give this book an A+ because it had everything I was expecting it to have along with things I didn't consider at all!! I will recommend this book and the entire series to anyone who loves fantasy, adventure, and romance because Tiffany has it all right there for all to love! All in all, great job!!

Anathema By Megg Jensen: A Review

Yesterday I participated in a read-a-thon with some of the most amazing people on twitter! One of the books that I chose to read in a line of many other amazing ones, was Anathema by Megg Jensen. Below is my review.




So, Megg was kind enough to allow me to read Anathema so that I may review it. Honestly, I had been looking at this book for some time and wasn't sure. I had been let down by others before and I really wasn't looking forward to that again. Once I finally cracked Anathema open however, boy was I surprised at how awesome that it actually was/is!


I found myself seeing the world and people through Reychel's eyes. I felt what she was feeling as she was going from slave to savior. Every scene was written in a way that I completely understood what was being said and done. The characters came to life in a way that even I wasn't expecting. When they were happy so was I. When they were betrayed, I was too. That is a rare thing in books. In fact, I've only found a few that have drawn me in this far.
